Frequently asked questions

  • How long does a canal cruise last?

Tourist cruises last 60 minutes. Private group tours are divided into blocks of 1 and 2 hours. Petrol boats can be hired for a full day and electric boats for a maximum of 2 hours.

  • Will there also be explanations during the cruise?

Of course! During our canal cruises, our skipper will explain the sights of Zwolle to you.

  • Is the boat accessible for disabled/elderly people?

Our boats are also accessible for people with reduced mobility. Our skippers will help you on board and, if required, your rollator or wheelchair can be parked on the boarding boat. All our boats are accessible by a few steps. We do not have a wheelchair lift, but we do our best to help everyone board safely. Are you in doubt about the accessibility of our location? Please contact us.

  • Is there a toilet on board?

There are no toilets on our tour boats due to the low bridges, but private tours can always be stopped somewhere in between to use a toilet upon request!

  • Can a coach stop nearby?

Yes, coaches can stop on the Kamperpoorter bridge right next to our boats to let people get in and/or out. Longer parking on the bridge is not allowed.

  • Where can I park?

    Boarding location:

    Harm Smeengekade 15
    8011 AK Zwolle

Rondvaart Zwolle is easily accessible both by train and by car. Parking is available directly on the other side of the bridge in car park Maagjesbolwerk or at car park Emmawijk.

  • Where will the canal cruise pass?

In one hour, we cruise through the centre of Zwolle. If you sail longer, we also cruise outside the centre. For a description of all places of interest along the route, see the page 'info' -> 'Sailing routes'.

  • Can I also board/dismount somewhere else?

The canal boat makes a round trip and thus arrives back wherever you got on. Groups with a private canal tour can embark and disembark anywhere by prior arrangement.

  • What kind of catering options are available?

On the regular canal cruise, an employee of Rondvaart Zwolle will walk around with different snacks and drinks. For private group cruises, we offer various arrangements. All options can be found on the 'Prices' page.

  • Is the boat covered?

Both our boats for regular sightseeing tours and private group tours are covered in bad weather. The small rental boats are not covered.

  • Is the boat heated?

No, our boats are not heated. So in cold weather, make sure you are dressed warmly.

  • I have booked for a Canal Cruise ticket, but cannot come. What now?

Have you booked tickets for the regular canal cruise? Then you can rebook your reservation once, free of charge. To do so, please contact us via the contact form.

  • How many people are allowed on board?

Our 30-seater boat the "Zwerver 2.0" officially allows a maximum of 50 people on board.

On our 90-seater boat "Achter de Geraniums", a maximum of 103 people are officially allowed on board.

We do not offer these boats as standard as 50 and 103 person boats because it is very cramming. But it is safe and the choice is yours.

  • Is there always room during the regular cruise?

We obviously try to take everyone who wants to join us for the cruise. So you can come as you please, but if you want to be sure of a place or if you come with more than one person, it is advisable to make a reservation because then your place is guaranteed!
